Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Paks Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)
Folger K. 2013. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Paks Wildland Urban Interface (WUI). National Park Service. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks
The Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) is the zone of transition between unoccupied land and human development. The WUI is often characterized as having increased risk of wildfire due to increasing population, dangerous fuel buildup, and climate change. While the WUI can be defined in various ways depending on spatial scale, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks defines its WUI by a half-mile buffer around park roads and buildings.
