Kings Mountain National Military Park, Water Quality Monitoring, Fiscal Year 2025

Meiman J. 2026. Kings Mountain National Military Park, Water Quality Monitoring, Fiscal Year 2025. National Park Service

The Cumberland Piedmont Inventory and Monitoring Network began long-term monitoring water quality of Kings Mountain National Military Park in fiscal year 2003, sampling bi-monthly in alternating years. After FY17 the sampling changed to a quarterly schedule on alternate years. Water quality is measured at six sites: Kings Creek, Upper Dellingham Branch, Garner Branch, Stonehouse Creek, Long Branch and Cabin Creek. Based upon program requirements and specific park concerns, parameters were chosen for long-term monitoring; including the field measures of water temperature, specific conductance, pH, and dissolved oxygen. Samples undergo laboratory analysis for Escherichia coli. This brief summarizes data collected from December 2002 to August 2025, highlighting November 6, 2024, through August 6, 2025 (spring sampling event canceled due to travel restrictions).
