Park Species Detail: Stupka (1963) fails to mention this species; Park Observations include two records, one from December 1963 and the other record from Mark Armstrong who detected this species during a study of nocturnal migrants over Purchase Knob in fall of 2004; Robinson ATBI Sensitivity = Public Species Notes: Rare Winter Resident, Cades Cove; See Tamplin et al. (1993) for information on relationships of this species and among the Cardinalidae. STATUS: Native, Migratory, Occasional, Present in Park;; ; General Notes: Stupka (1963) fails to mention this species; Park Observations include two records, one from December 1963 and the other record from Mark Armstrong who detected this species during a study of nocturnal migrants over Purchase Knob in fall of 2004; Robinson (1990) considers this species an ""uncommon to rare"" migrant in eastern Tennessee.
