Notes
Park Species Detail: Russell (1984?) rare fall through spring, more common in flight years. Lists some observations. Occasionally great flights take place, but none have occurred since 1945-46. An occasional bird has occurred in the marshes at Bass Harbor and in Northeast Creek, but on the mainland the bare mountain tops are favored localities.
Favour (1970): Observed on 27 December 1959 on Cadillac Mountain (see observation)
Bond (19??) winter visitor, abundance variable, but usually rare.
Long (1951a) observed at the town dump in Southwest Harbor on 13 January 1949; observed at Seawall during November 1949; and observed at Beech Hill during December 1949.
Long (1951b) 1 seen at Seawall on 16 November 1949 (R. Howe); also 2 reported shot at McKinley on 19 December 1950; also 1 seen at the Southwest Harbor Town Dump on 13 January 1950.
Sullivan (1937): Rare and occasional in winter; 2 seen on Sargent Mountain in summer of 1910 (Tyson); a large number appeared during the winter and very early spring of 1927 (Pellew); one captured alive at Sand Point, 10 November 1933 (A.
