Notes
Park Species Detail: Bartgis, 1993: State Threatened plant, in Potomac Fall-Line. Wiegand, 2001: Riverbank goldenrod (Solidago spathulata) was found to be widely distributed in suitable habitat along the entire length of the Potomac Gorge portion of the survey area from Sandy Hook, Maryland, to District of Columbia line . Two (2) new and twenty-one (21) previously reported occurrences were successfully documented Total population in the gorge is estimated at 4,000 - 5,000 plants. Most of these occurrences contain more than 100 plants, and a few are much larger. More than 90% of the plants grow in the upper gorge between Falls Island and Offutt Island. Riverbank goldenrod occurs in the gorge as a large, widespread and viable population, but is not currently reported from any other site in Maryland. Wiegand, 1999: Currently listed in Maryland as threatened and documented to occur in the gorge during this survey from Great Falls, Maryland, downriver to the District of Columbia line. Riverbank goldenrod (Solidago spathulata) was found to be widely distributed in suitable habitat along the entire length of the survey area. Only two (2) new sites were documented for this state-threatened species, but at least eleven (I I) previously known sites were successfully updated. Most of these occurrences contain hundreds of plants and a few are much larger. Though this species occurs in the gorge as a large, widespread and viable population, it is not known from any other site in Maryland., Park Species Data Source: BioBlitz, 1997-Chain Bridge Flats;Bartgis, 1993;Boone, 1986;TNC, 1999;Wiegand, 1999;Wiegand, 2001
