Park Species Detail: Long (1987): Not known to summer on MDI. Russell (1984?) common spring and fall migrant; rare in winter; maximum spring count of 350 in the Sieur de Monts Spring area on 11 April 1967 (D. Johnson); not known to breed on MDI, however, pairs have been seen in early June Favour (1970): Observed on 20 December 1958 during the MDI CBC at an Otter Creek feeding station. Bond (1969) may occasionally summer on MDI; often seen in spring and early fall. Bond (1949): one or two Rusty Blackbirds remained for a few days near the southern end of MDI (Manset & McKinley) in late May 1946. Bond (19??) fairly common transient; has been noted on MDI in early June. Sullivan (1937) Uncommon transient; specimen taken in spring at Bar Harbor by Filliettaz; flock of about 1,000 seen by A. Stupka on 10 November 1934 (no location given); other observations noted (none within park., Park Species Data Source: Witt (1997); Russell (1984?) Legacy NPSpecies information may no longer be applicable, please remove if it is not applicable. In legacy NPSpecies Residency was Unknown with comment: Breeds in Hancock County but no breeding records on MDI to date (Witt 1997). Adamus (1983) breeding in northern, downeast, and western Maine.
