Park Species Detail: Britt, 1993: Petromyzon marinus, sea lamprey (anadromous, native)./
Sea lamprey occur naturally on both sides of the Northern Atlantic Ocean; along the North American East Coast from Labrador to Florida. Introduced populations reside in the Great Lakes and in many New York lakes. Sea lamprey with access to the sea are anadromous. After spawning, the adults swim downstream to die. Sea lamprey were not previously reported from Rock Creek but were collected during this study., Park Species Data Source: Britt et al 1993
