Park Species Detail: Hill, 1986: Introduced, persistent from cultivation, native to E.N. America. Perennial herb from a bulb. May. Shrub succession to pine woodland, but restricted to old house sites. Rare on Assateague, seen only on Great Egging Island at old house site. Not reported by Higgins.
