Park Species Detail: Bowes et al. (1999) documented within ANP during 1996; historically present in at least 4 of the 21 ponds in the park on Mount Desert Island; Brown trout were unsuccessfully introduced into Long Pond in 1900; also stocked in Lower Hadlock Pond, Upper Hadlock Pond, and Seal Cove Pond; recently documented at Lower Hadlock Pond (January 1987 and February 1996) and Upper Hadlock Pond (July 1984). Fuller and Cooper (1946) rare in Upper Hadlock Pond and rare in Jordan Pond during the summer of 1942; Several races have been introduced; during the period between 1890 and 1900, Loch Leven Brown Trout were introduced into Seal Cove Pond; Scotch Sea Trout were introduced into Long Pond during the period between 1890 and 1900; native of Europe and introduced widely in the US. Batchelder (1927) introduced into Long Pond in 1900; did not become established., Park Species Data Source: Bowes et al.
