Coman (1987, 1981): Common and widely distributed on MDI. Davis (1958) Abundant and widespread on MDI during 1957. Hunter et al. (1999) abundant state wide in virtually every Maine stream and watershed.

Breeder
Davis (1958) reports numerous sites where larvae were observed. Hunter et al. (1999) adult female individually cements eggs to the underside of a rock in the flowing water of a very small brook where predatory fish are absent or scarce.

Park Species Detail: Chalmers (1999): species observed at Hadlock Brook, drainage of Lake Wood, Richardson Brook, Stanley Brook, Jordan Stream, Hunters Brook, and Hemlock Brook.
Le (1999): 53 captured at Hunters Brook in 1998.
Coman (1987, 1981): Common and widely distributed on MDI; found in Cromwell Brook, Stanley Brook, Canoe Brook, Hadlock Brook, Bubble Pond Brook, Hunter's Brook, and the inlets to Seal Cove Pond and Witch Hole Pond.
Davis (1958) 84 individuals were observed and 8 specimens were collected during 1957 field work on MDI; Details of observations are included in report, many observations are within park boundaries. Abundant and widespread on MDI during 1957.
Manville (1939) There are records from Bear Brook, Hadlock Brook, Hull's Cove Brook, and Sargent Mountain on MDI.
Manville (1938) 3 specimens listed, only 1 possibly within park boundaries: 1 under log in Bear Brook on 8 July 1938 (URO-20; R. Manville). 3 observations listed for MDI, 2 thought to be within park: Observed at Hadlock Brook below Pulpit Rock on 11 July 1938 (R.
