Park Species Detail: Connery et al. (1998): Reported this species during searches of watersheds within the park during 1997. Coman (1981): one of the commonest frogs on MDI. Burnley and Raha (1971) 7 were observed at a beaver dam north of Sieur de Monts Spring on 27 August 1971. Davis (1960) young ones observed on the new Champlain Mountain Road on 26 August 1958 (S. Davis and R. Davis), first heard callong on 10 May 1959, not in chorus yet. Davis (1958) 100+ individuals were observed and 2 specimens were collected during 1957 field work on MDI (many from within the park; details listed in report).. Abundant and widespread throughout the park on MDI. Manville (1939) In streams and meadows, and at the south end of The Tarn on MDI. Manville (1938) 5 specimens listed, including 3 thought to be within park boundaries: 1 at South end of The Tarn on 16 July 1934 (ANU-7; M. Branin); meadow at eastern foot of Champlain Mountain on 1 September 1934 (ANU-9; M. Branin); and Hunter's Beach Trail, near road on 11 September 1934 (ANU-10; M. Branin).
