Park Species Detail: During the 2005 seabird survey, the petrel calls were detected at Kapalaoa and Holua throughout the night. There were unprecedented 'Ua'u detection recorded from Kuiki and Kaupo. Observers heard one bird flying overhead at Kuiki at about 2130 h. on 28 April. Observers at Kaupo heard calls beginning about 20 minutes after sunset and continuing for about two hours to about 2100 hr. Observers heard one bird that appeared to be moving uphill through Kaupo Gap. Calls were about 8-10 minutes apart., Park Species Data Source: NATUREBIB-601714, Seabird inventory
