Park Species Detail: Maxon, 1935: Extinct? Species included on the strength of satisfactory records, but no specimen is preserved. Killip, 1953: In 1935, known only from the mainland. Cranberry Meadows, 1997: LC (HH, low common?), Cranberry Meadows; Common, Chain Bridge flats above tailrace. BioBlitz, 1997-Chain Bridge Flats: Arizona RR Bridge to Fletchers Boat House, Martha Stauss, Botanist. Pools; 1 pool near Ariz. RR Bridge. BioBlitz, 1997-Chain Bridge Flats: Below Fletchers, Warren Steiner, Jil Swearingen. Wiegand, 2001b: Lizard's-tail (Saururus cernuus) was seen in small numbers at several widely separated areas at Chain Bridge Flats during this survey.Lizard's-tail (Saururus cernuus) is widely scattered throughout the Fletcher's Floodplain area, but nowhere was it seen in great numbers. It was seen growing in wet sand in low floodplain forest as well as in cobbly swales and around the edges of flood pools.
