Park Species Detail: Sawdy (1997) 1 captured in a trap at Indian Point between 21 April and 28 May 1997.
Garman (1991): 82 captures of 51 individuals during trapping in 1987 and 1988 in aspen-birch and red spruce habitats.
Coman (1987, 1981) has been observed along park trails on MDI, can occur at all elevations.
Packie and Nadeau (1975): Present in the park on MDI at Hadlock Ponds; 4 individuals trapped here.
Allen (1969): Present on Western Point; 1 individual captured.
Calhoun (1951) reported that red squirrels were common throughout the coniferous forests during the fall of 1949 and were very rare during October 1950.
Calhoun (1950): Observed (but not trapped) on MDI during November 1949, exact locations unknown; abundance ranged from uncommon to abundant along trap lines.
