Occurrence
Unconfirmed
Occurrence Notes
It was reported from one specimen in the 1980s; efforts to locate using electrofishing and snorkling were unsuccessful, but it could be present in the park. Another species, Cottus gulosus, the riffle sculpin, was reported as common in a study done downstream of the park. Cottus gulosus is the species expected in this area based on Dr. Peter Moyle's "Inland Fish of California", but either are possible.; Data Source: SEKI Wildlife Observations Database (SEKIWildlifeObs.mdb); Harold Werner, personal knowledge
Nativeness
Native
Nativeness Notes
The prickly sculpin ranges from Seward, Alaska, southward along the Pacific Coast and into adjacent inland waters to the Ventura River in southern California. Their present range may be much wider than their historical range, because the planktonic larvae can be distributed via the California Aqueduct, Friant-Kern Canal, and other man-made water transport systems to various portions of southern California.; Data Source: Krejsa, R.J. 1967.
