Notes
Park Species Detail: Wiegand, 2001b: Cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis) was seen at several locations near the river below Fletcher's Boathouse. Several dozen flowering plants occur around the edge of the lagoon and small groups of plants were seen on the forested edge further down river. Cardinal flower occurs with regularity in appropriate habitat further upriver and should be expected to occur with some frequency in this area as well. Found at 2 sites. A watch list (and otherwise uncommon) plant species known to occur within the District of Columbia portion of LOCO (along the C&O Canal NHP and Potomac River from the Maryland line to Key Bridge, Washington, D.C.), Park Species Data Source: Leeson, n.d.;Maxon, 1935;Wiegand, 2001;Wiegand, 2001b;
