    Witt (1997) reports nests discovered along the shoreline at Wonderland. Considered a transient at Ship Harbor (Bond 1955). Sibley (2000) summers in southern coastal Maine and far northern Maine; migratory throughout rest of Maine.

Park Species Detail: Long (1987): Present at the shore by Wonderland; nested here in 1974, only nest recorded to date on MDI although singing males reported at Otter Point. Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996. Russell (1984?) common spring and fall migrant, breeding status uncertain; an early arrival was 2 on Great Head on 1 May 1950 (F. Anthony); maximum fall count of 100+ at Otter Point on 29 September 1969 (W. Russell); in September and October of 1960, 304 were banded at the Patterson banding station in Somesville. Bond (1975): nest found 18 inches above ground on a branch of white spruce at Wonderland; the four young fledged on 22 July 1974. Favour (1974): Nesting at Wonderland in 1974. Bond (1969) Occurred on one occasion at Ship Harbor in July (no year given). Long (1951) regular migrant on MDI. Palmer (1949) a flock of 30 observed at Great Head (Mrs. E.A. Anthony); also a large flock on 17 October 1930 at Great Head (Mrs. E.A. Anthony). Bond (19??) rare transient on MDI. Tyson and Bond (1941): Not nesting on MDI. Sullivan (1937) Summer resident, rather common, especially on the outlying islands from May to October. Farley (1935) reported 1 pair at the southern slope of Western Mountain on 22 June 1934, observed between 10 AM and 2 PM. Eliot (1931): observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R.
