Park Species Detail: Bowes et al. (1999) Landlocked Atlantic salmon and sea-run Atlantic salmon have been stocked occasionally into Eagle Lake since 1971 and likely earlier as this species was found in Eagle Lake in 1942; In Echo Lake, Landlocked Atlantic Salmon have been stocked since at least 1965 and sea-run Atlantic Salmon were stocked into Echo Lake in 1994; In Jordan Pond, Landlocked Salmon have been stocked regularly since the 1930's with first introductions in the early 1900's; sea-run Atlantic Salmon were introduced to Jordan pond in 1994; In Long Pond, landlocked Atlantic Salmon have been stocked almost annually since 1977; sea-run Atlantic Salmon were stocked into Long Pond in 1986. Landlocked salmon have been stocked in Eagle Lake, Echo Lake, Lower Hadlock Pond, Jordan Pond, Little Long Pond, and Long Pond; Atlantic Salmon have been stocked in Eagle Lake, Echo Lake, Jordan Pond, and Long Pond. Landlocked Salmon have recently been documented from Eagle Lake (winter creel records 1989-1995), Echo Lake (1997), Jordan Pond (fall 1991 and fall 1994), Long Pond (July 1987, Mack, and 1989). Fuller and Cooper (1946) rare in Echo Lake, rare in Somes Pond, abundant in Long Pond, rare in Upper Hadlock Pond, rare in Jordan Pond, and common in Eagle Lake during the summer of 1942; collected during surveys with gill nets in Jordan Pond and Eagle Lake during the summer of 1942; Originally native to Maine but have been introduced to new waters within Maine; by 1900 species had been introduced to the larger lakes and ponds on MDI; not native to MDI; stocked into Eagle Lake and Long Pond between 1 July 1933 and 30 June 1945. Batchelder (1927): Land-locked salmon have been introduced "from time to time' into Eagle Lake, Long Pond, Jordan Pond, and Upper Hadlock Pond; Present within the park in watersheds east of Somes Sound., Park Species Data Source: Bowes et al.
