Park Species Detail: Hill, 1986: Introduced, from Asia. Perennial herb. Stems prostrate; flowers yellow, fruit red, fleshy; insipid. April-June. Disturbed sands, woodland. Seen only on Great Egging Island at old house site. Frequent weed throughout MD. Fruit resembles a strawberry, edible but without taste. Flowers yellow, not white like true strawberry.
