Occurrence Notes
A common summer resident of mainstem riparian habitat along the Colorado River. Brown et al. (1987) documented the species’ dramatic range expansion upstream since the construction of Glen Canyon Dam. While it remains most common below about RM 160 and is rare above the Little Colorado River (RM 61), numerous recent records from along the river above Lees Ferry suggest that this range expansion has continued and the species may now breed all the way upriver to Glen Canyon Dam (LaRue et al. 2001, Spence 2006). Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Grand Canyon Region. 3rd edition.
