Park Species Detail: Woods (1997): 202 were observed from Cadillac Mountain during 37 days of observations between 2 September and 14 October 1997.
Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996.
Woods (1995): 494 were observed from Cadillac Mountain during 31 days of observations between 28 August and 17 October 1995.
College of the Atlantic (1988): 404 were observed from Beech Mountain during 27 days of observations between 12 September and 12 October 1988.
Long (1987): Most common hawk on MDI.
Major (1987): 643 were observed from Beech Mountain during 75 days of observations between 31 August and 15 November 1987.
Major and Mittelhauser (1986): individuals were observed from Beech Mountain during 76 days of observations between 30 August and 13 November 1986.
North and Chidester (1986) Observed from Jordan Cliffs between July and September 1986.
