Park Species Detail: Bowes et al. (1999) Likely native to Mount Desert Island but angler bait releases may account for its current distribution; documented within ANP during 1998, historically present in at least 17 of the 21 ponds in the park on Mount Desert Island; Recently documented at Aunt Betty Pond (1998, J. Le), Bear Brook Pond (July 1995, J. Burgess), The Bowl (1995, J. Burgess), Hadlock Stream (1998, J. Le), and The Tarn (1998, J. Le).
Burgess (1995) Present at Bear Brook Pond and The Bowl
Dubuc et al. (1988) identified Fundulus spp. from scat samples of River Otter.
Zabinski and Olday (1975): Present in The Tarn.
Fuller and Cooper (1946) collected during surveys with seines in Seal Cove Pond, Long Pond, Upper Hadlock Pond, Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake, and Bubble Pond during the summer of 1942; especially abundant in lakes and ponds on MDI.
