Park Species Detail: Bowes et al. (1999) documented within ANP during 1994; historically present in at least 4 of the 21 ponds in the park on Mount Desert Island; recently documented at Hodgdon Pond (May 1994), Long Pond (fall 1992 and 1989), Round Pond (1980's, MDIFW), and Seal Cove Pond (May 1994); not considered native to Hamilton Pond, Hodgdon Pond, Long Pond, Round Pond, and Seal Cove Pond. Species was introduced to Somes Pond "in the past) and is now well established. Dubuc et al. (1988) identified this species from scat samples of River Otter. Fuller and Cooper (1946) abundant in Somes Pond during the summer of 1942; presumably present from an earlier introduction., Park Species Data Source: Bowes et al. (1999); Fuller and Cooper (1946)
