    Witt (1997) reports breeding in the Seawall and Wonderland areas; Nest observed in the Ship Harbor area (Bond 1955). Adamus (1983) scattered breeder throughout Maine. Sibley (2000) summers throughout Maine, except migratory in southwestern Maine.

Park Species Detail: Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996. Long (1987): Present at Big Heath - best locality for this species. Picture of nest at Great Heath. Russell (1984?) common spring through fall; the heath at Seawall supports a number of pairs. Bond (1969) Big Heath is the best location on MDI for this species; several pairs breed at Big Heath; also found nesting between Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor Marsh. The western race of the Parl Warbler was banded on MDI. Long (1951) the only known location for this species on MDI is at Great Heath at Seawall; Nests were found at Great Heath on 23 June 1949 (4 eggs), on 20 June 1950 (4 grown young), and on 5 July 1950 (4 young). Palmer (1949) A nest with 4 eggs found in the bog at Ship Harbor may be the southern-most nesting record of this species. Bond (19??) local summer residen (The Big Heath near Ship Harbor), numerous and widespread as a transientt; 1 or more nests have been found. Tyson and Bond (1941): Present at the bog between Sea Wall and McKinley; no nests have as yet been found on MDI. Bond (1937): Breeding within a mile of Ship Harbor. Sullivan (1937) Rare transient; several seen on 16 and 20 May 1924 (no locations given); apparently nesting near Ship Harbor; singing males noted at Seawall Bog on 7 June 1937. Eliot (1931): observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R.
