Park Species Data Source: Schmalzer, P.A. and H.R. DeSelm, 1982;, Accepted Detail: ITIS lists this as a variety of the European species Hepatica nobilis (i. e. H. nobilis var. obtusa), but it seems to make sense to keep it at the species level for now, as it is listed in the Flora of Kentucky (Jones 2005).
