These animals are more closely related to coastal S CA pop's, rather than nearby (Sierra Nevada) pop's. This pop. have resulted from an introduction, via importation along with ornamental plants brougth from the Los Angeles area in the early 1900's.; Data Source: Genetic analysis of tissue samples by Tod Reeder (SDSU). Could be a pest of affecting native species.
