Park Species Detail: Hill, 1986 Native. Annual herb. July-Nov. Disturbed sands, shrub succession, near margin of salt marsh. Fruits green, immature. Rare on Assateague, seen only at Valentine cabin at Scotts Point. Infrequent to rare in MD, but often mistaken for #495 (Solanum nigrum, ASIS Herbarium), from which it differs by the very thin leaves, smaller glossy berries, and strictly umbellate inflorescence.
