Also winter resident and spring and predominately fall migrant. Confirmed breeder in the NYBBA online species lists for block: 1985 and 2003 5949A. This block has high probability that breeding confirmations occur within park boundaries. Also confirmed by Harbor Herons Project at Canarsie Pol in 2002. Note: Zuzworsky's Jamaica Bay I&M reference lists this species as a confirmed breeder in 1997.
