Park Species Detail: In the above reference, this species is mentioned as being one of the major herbivores and largest threat to the Special Ecological Areas (SEAs) and archeological sites of Kalaupapa. Due to grazing and browsing pressures, these animals represent a major threat to the remaining native plant communities.
