Park Species Detail: Three varieties of this taxon occur in PA and NJ. Var. scandens, the commonest, occurs in moist woods, thickets, roadsides and waste ground. Var. cristatum is found in dry rocky woods, wooded banks and thickets. Var. dumetorum is found in moist woods, alluvial thickets and roadsides.
