Notes
Park Species Detail: Mittelhauser (1991) none observed from Great Head to Hunter's Beach on 20 January 1991; 100 observed from Seawall Point to Ship Harbor area on 20 January 1991. Russell (1984?) very common to abundant fall through spring. Maximum fall count of 350 near Bass Harbor on 17 November 1968 (W. Russell). Late spring count of 9 near Schooner Head on 28 May 1968 (W. Russell). The best places are the Old Soaker, west Bunkers Ledge near Seawall, and the rocks off Brown's Ledge (Wonderland). Bond (19??) winter visitant; apparently fairly common in the MDI area. Tyson and Bond (1941): 150 observed on 1938 Bar Harbor Christmas Bird Count. Sullivan (1937): rare visitor, only seen in winter. Eliot (1931): observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R.
