Notes
Park Species Detail: Ingram, 1998: Very common; disturbed forest./Hobson, 1998: "Threats to the quality of the site for rare plants arise from invasive alien plant species, particularly eulalia (Microstegium vimineum) which is especially abundant in the ravine bottoms." Ubiquitous throughout the study areas. Large scale herbicide treatment for control may not be practical in attempting to maintain rare plant populations concurrently. Belden et al (1995) mentioned several of these exotic species as occurring within surveyed parcels along Yorktown Creek within Colonial National Historical Park./Belden, 1995: has supplanted native herbaceous vegetation throughout much of these bottomlands (east of Route 17 and north of the Colonial Parkway), forming dense monotypic stands./Gounaris: 2000: present throughout the majority of the park; extremely widespread throughout Yorktown, Jamestown and the Colonial Parkway corridor. Occurs in large, dense patches in every forest opening, streamside, trailside and roadside. Highly invasive, covering a relatively high percentage of the park. It is unrealistic to expect complete eradication of these species. Areas of critical habitats should be kept free (see reference for further discussion.) Densely distributed throughout all roadsides, stream corridors, trailsides, and forest openings./Van Alstine, 2001: Pond 46, little seen./Hamilton, 2005: Synonym Eulalia viminea (Trin.)
