Occurrence Notes
An irregular summer and fall visitor to the South Rim and an irregular winter and spring visitor to the Colorado River. Of the thirteen records for the region, remarkably, eight occurred along the Colorado River between 1998 and 2000. Presumably the same male visited a feeder in Grand Canyon Village for several weeks in the fall of 2006, 2007, and 2008 (Marker Marshall). It was typically present in late August and early September, but in 2008 it lingered into early October. A female was photographed at Desert View from 8-17 Oct 2010 (Brian P. Gatlin). Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011. Annotated Checklist of the Birds of the Grand Canyon Region. 3rd edition.
