Park Species Detail: Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996. Long (1987): Occurs regularly in the vicinity of Sieur de Monts Spring. Russell (1984?) uncommon to common spring migrant and breeder; common fall migrant; rare in winter; breeding at Sieur de Monts Spring where as many as 4 pairs have been seen. Favour (1970): Observed on 26 December 1959 during the MDI CBC (first time record for the MDI CBC); observed at Mrs. Jordan's feeding station in Seal Harbor. Also one observed on 29 December 1962 during the CBC on MDI. Bond (1969) occurs regularly in the vicinity of Sieur de Monts Spring, particularly at the parking lot. Palmer (1949) female seen on 14 October 1934 at Bar Harbor (Mrs. E.A. Anthony). Bond (1949): Known to have nested on MDI. Bond (19??) casual in summer about towns and villages; reported as having nested in Southwest Harbor; 1 or more nests have been found. Sullivan (1937) Rare and accidental visitor; specimen taken in May at Bar Harbor by Filliettaz; one seen by V. Lunt at Town Hill on 15 May 1937. Eliot (1931): observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R.
