Notes
Park Species Detail: Lea, C. April, 2000:The occurrence cited by Hill, the first and, to date, only record for Maryland was relocated by this survey. Although somewhat secluded from visitor activity and park operations, the colony is small, with perhaps 50 plants in a small area, and somewhat precarious. It should be monitored, at at least a presence/absence level. Additional occurrences should be targets for future surveys. No rank change is recommended by the Maryland Heritage Biodiversity Program./
Hill, 1986: Native. Perennial herb. Fruits green, immature. July-Aug. Woodland. Rare on Assateague, one colony seen at Green Run, also rare in the entire mid-Atlantic region according to MD Natural Heritage program. See Vegetation Mapping Report. There were no MD specimens nor Higgins specimens at MARY. The species was not reported by Brown & Brown (1984). First record for Maryland. (Higgins #362, probably an erroneous report). Reported by Harvill (1967). MD & VA. Slides: B85-5, B85-6./, Park Species Data Source: Lea, Chris (2000)
