Notes
Park Species Detail: Checklist information (abundance) updated 4/11/03 by professional judgement of Bruce Connery, ACAD wildlife biologist.
Witt (1997) reports this species in areas adjacent to the park.
Russell (1984?) very common to abundant spring migrant, abundant to very abundant fall migrant. In spite of its abundance, there are only 2 inland records: a bird at Hamilton Pond on 1 September 1965 (S. White) and up to 6 on the Bar Harbor Bay from 19-26 August 1978 (D. Peakall).
Palmer (1949) Audubon stated that some remain and breed as far south of MDI, but this record seems questionable.
Bond (19??) Transient, often comm off outer islands.
Sullivan (1937) No record for MDI, but abundant generally along the Maine Coast in Migration according to Norton. Audubon wrote that some remain and breed as far south as Mt. Desert.
