In rich dry-mesic forests along tributary streams to the Potomac and in mesophytic alluvial terrace forests along the Potomac main stem. Found at Bear Island, Great Falls Park, Virginia, and in the ravines of Cabin John Creek, Bullneck Run, and Pimmit Run.
