Dominant or co-dominant in all Sonoran desertscrub sub-associations. Co-dominant in Sonoran riparian scrub and semidesert grasslands on southeast slopes. Very common in semidesert grasslands on northwest slope and in interior chaparral (Jenkins, 1991).
