Park Species Detail: Sibley (2000) Breeding in Maine except migratory in central-western mountains region (Sibley 2000). Long (1987) brood of 9 young observed at Hamilton Pond in 1966. Russell (1984?) uncommon spring migrant, uncommon breeder, common to very common fall migrant. Large numbers occur at Bass Harbor Marsh during the fall. Females have been seen with young on Hamilton Pond (June 1968), Seawall Pond (June 1968), and Northeast Creek (June 1971). Adamus (1983) Breeding in scattered portions of Maine. Bond (1969) Numerous records spring through fall on MDI; during the summer of 1966, a brood of 9 young was observed at Hamilton Pond. Long (1951) a pair was observed on 3 May 1950 in a Beaver Pond at Southwest Harbor. Bond (1948): Bond observed at Bass Harbor Marsh in June many years ago and more recently observed 5 at Hodgdon Pond on June 28 (1948?) Bond (19??) Probably occasional summer resident; rarer as a transient than the Green-winged Teal; broods of "teal" have been observed on MDI. Tyson and Bond (1941): Young "teal" seen at Bass Harbor Marsh.
