Abundance Notes
Lynx populations in Wyoming are small, perhaps being less than a dozen pair in the whole state. WYNDD has less than 50 reported occurrences of lynx in YNP over the past 100 years (WYNDD 2005). Despite extensive surveys and the high-profile nature of this species, very few observations have been reported in YNP in recent years, suggesting that they occur in very low numbers (Murphy et al. 2005).; Data Source: Doug Keinath-Lead Zoologist-Wyoming Natural Diversity Database
Seasonality Tags
  • Breeder
Of the nearly 50 records for lynx in YNP from WYNDD, two contain evidence suggesting breeding (WYNDD 2005). It is likely that breeding occurs in the park on a limited basis, perhaps not every year.; Data Source: Doug Keinath-Lead Zoologist-Wyoming Natural Diversity Database
