Park Species Detail: Lea, 2000: Carex albicans Willdenow ex Sprengel var. emmonsii (Dewey) Rettig (Emmons' Sedge)Infrequent. In dry, acidic forests, usually under Quercusprinus. Vaso and Hermit Islands, Donaldson Run ravine, Great Falls Park, Virginia. Often treated as Carex emmonsii Dewey in Torrey. This is the predominant form of C. albicans on the Coastal Plain in Maryland. This is the first report of the taxon fiom the Potomac Gorge.
