Notes
Original entry: Park Species Data Source: Split from Junco hyemalis per Chris Woods state CBC compiler via Cynthia Melcher email 12/12/2003 per Jeff Connor Updated entry-common name for this taxon (Mike Britten, 5/16/2018): Cassiar Junco is a subspecies of the Dark-eyed Junco that "...breeds s.-central Yukon Territory south through interior British Columbia east of Coast Ranges east to w.-central Alberta." (Birds of North America species account for Junco hyemalis). Regarding the winter range, the BNA account says: "Winter range poorly defined but reported to be from s.-coastal British Columbia south to n. Baja California (rarely), Arizona, New Mexico, east to Minnesota, and south to central Texas..." Therefore, this taxon may occur and should be looked for in Rocky Mountain NP.
