Brotherton (2004) recorded 11 individuals. Only two were captured and measured (one under a coverboard at Seal Cove Road Homestead and the second as an incidental encounter at Cadillac Mountain Field). The other nine were incidental encounters of adults that were not captured, dead snakes (two DOR), shed skins, or miscellaneous observations without specimen data.It was recorded at 11 localities on Mount Desert Island, six of which were while crossing roads, as well as in wetlands and uplands Davis (1961): In May of 1959, 2 dead milk snakes were found, one at Otter Point and the other at Beech Hill.; Data Source: Brotherton, David K., John L. Park Species Detail: Coman (1987, 1981): Widely distributed over MDI, from near sea level to the tops of mountains. Davis (1961): In May of 1959, 2 dead milk snakes were found, one at Otter Point and the other at Beech Hill. Manville (1939) many killed on the roads by automobiles; no records from above 200 feet elevation; sometimes found at the very edge of salt water. Common on MDI. Manville (1938) Specimens from: Near Ocean Drive during July 1933 (REPT-8; A. Stupka); Bear Brook Campground on 31 August 1934 (REPT-14; T. Savich); and Woods near Ocean Drive on 3 October 1934 (REPT-15; V. Lunt). 8 observations also listed., Park Species Data Source: Davis (1961); Manville (1938)
