Park Species Detail: Sharp (1997) Recorded during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996; not sure if species was recored within park boundaries. Long (1987): Present around the edges of Big Heath; Not every year; populations vary from year to year; Common in 1979 and rare in 1980 & 81. Breeding on MDI, although no specific park records given. North and Chidester (1986) Observed from Jordan Cliffs between July and September 1986. Russell (1984?) common spring and fall migrant; uncommon breeder; maximum spring count of 7 singing at Sieur de Monts Spring on 26 May 1968 (B. Patterson and W. Russell); maximum fall count of 20+ at Otter Point on 28 September 1973 (W. Russell); J. Bond (1971) considers the Lurvey Spring and Marshall Brook areas to be excellent breeding areas; fall migrants are often concentrated at Otter Point. Duley and North (1984) observed at Jordan Cliffs between May and September 1984. Bond (1969) best locality is among the larch and alder thickets bordering Marshall Brook, a short distance above its mouth where it enters Bass Harbor Marsh, also found in forest clearings near Ship Harbor; a nest with 6 eggs was found on 4 June 1968 near Lurvey Brook. Bond (1955): Considered rare in the Ship Harbor area. Bond (19??) very rare summer resident, probably absent in some years. Tyson and Bond (1941): Rarer than the Nashville Warbler on MDI; rare summer resident on MDI. Bond (1937): Breeding within a mile of Ship Harbor. Sullivan (1937): Uncommon summer resident from late May to September. Eliot (1931): observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R.
