Park Species Detail: Voucher specimen probable/ Hamilton, 2004: See Folder #403 ASIS Herbarium for Hibiscus moscheutos; Hill voucher specimen stored as Hibiscus moscheutos; H. moscheutos L. ssp. moscheutos chosen as local name as it appears in Hill, 1986./ Hill, 1986: Native. Shrub or perennial herb, but base woody. Flowers white with rose center. July-Sept. Fresh marsh and salt marsh, transitional areas. Infrequent but widespread on Assateague, as in MD overall. Distinct from H. palustris, but reported as that species by Higgins (Higgins #273). MD & VA.. Slides: B54-18 to B54-20.
