Park Species Detail: Bowes et al. (1999) Species is usually present in streams draining the southern half of Mount Desert Island; documented within ANP during 1998; historically present in at least 15 of the 21 ponds in the park on Mount Desert Island; stocked in Aunt Betty Pond, Breakneck Ponds, Bubble Pond, Eagle Lake, Echo Lake, Lower Hadlock Pond, Upper Hadlock Pond, Halfmoon Pond, Jordan Pond, Lake Wood, Little Long Pond, Long Pond, Round Pond, Seal Cove Pond, The Tarn, and Witch Hole Pond; recently documented at Bubble Pond (July 1994, MDIFW), brook off Eagle Lake (August 1990, MDIFW), Echo Lake (1997), Jordan Stream (April 1983), Hadlock Stream (1998, J. Le), Lower Hadlock Pond (February 1996), and Witch Hole Pond (1995, MDIFW).
Le (1999): 323 were captured at Hunters Brook in 1998.
Farris (1992) seined from Bass Harbor Estuary during October 1990 to October 1991.
Fuller and Cooper (1946) common in Seal Cove Pond, Common in Echo Lake, Rare in Somes Pond, common in Long Pond, abundant in Upper Hadlock Pond, common in Jordan Pond, common in Eagle Lake, and common in Bubble Pond during summer of 1942; collected during surveys with gill nets in Long Pond, Jordan Pond, and Eagle Lake during the summer of 1942; Originally native to Maine but have been introduced to new waters within Maine; presumably was native to practically all waters in the area; stocked in Seal Cove Pond, Echo Lake (and tributaries), Bubble Pond, Eagle Lake (and tributaries), Jordan Pond, Upper Hadlock Pond (and tributaries), and Long Pond (and tributaries) between 1 July 1933 and 30 June 1945.
Batchelder (1927): many of the streams on MDI have been stocked with native brook trout; but the original distribution of this fish has been closely followed.
