Park Species Detail: Loetterle, 1970: part of a sparse sapling-shrub layer on Jamestown Island located chiefly along road-cuts./Ingram, 1998: Rare; pine-mixed hardwood forest. Page 49: "Magnolia grandiflora is not typically expected to reproduce or colonize naturally this far north, but there is one large individual at Green Spring that does not appear to have been planted by humans.
