Park Species Detail: Connery et al. (1998): Reported this species during searches of watersheds within the park during 1997. Coman (1987, 1981) Common in local colonies on MDI; present in Ripple Brook (runs from Long Pond to Somes Pond), Lurvey Brook, near Lurvey Spring, Sieur de Monts Spring area, and along Breakneck Brook. Davis (1960) found on bluff above Sand Beach Residence on 31 August 1958 (S. Davis); heard for the first time in spring of 1959 on 19 April, at Whitney Farm, Somesville; breeding activity continued in swampy area through 10 May 1959. Davis (1958) 5 individuals were observed within the park on MDI and 1 specimen was collected during 1957 field work on MDI (specific details of these observations listed); found in widespread spots on the eastern side of MDI only. Manville (1939) in dam woods near Sieur de Monts Spring, The Tarn, Upper Mill Pond, and along Norway Drive on MDI. Manville (1938) 3 specimens reported including 2 thought to be within park boundaries: 1 from Sieur de Monts Spring on 23 August 1932 (ANU-4; A. Stupka); and The Tarn on 17 August 1934 (ANU-8; M. Branin). Also observed in woods near Toad Hole at the north end of Upper Mill Pond on 1 August 1938 (R. Manville)., Park Species Data Source: Connery et al.
