Notes
Park Species Detail: Witt (1997): Several pairs were referred to around Sieur de Monts Spring (Witt 1997) although it is not know if this is referred to nesting birds. Sharp (1997) Recorded during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996; not sure if this species was recorded within park boundaries. Long (1987): occurrs in or near villages on MDI. North and Chidester (1986) Observed from Jordan Cliffs between July and September 1986. Russell (1984?) common spring through fall; The area around Sieur de Monts Spring has several pairs. Duley and North (1984) observed at Jordan Cliffs between May and September 1984. Bond (1969) occurs in the outskirts of Bar Harbor; usually a pair at Sieur de Monts Sping. Bond (19??) fairly common summer resident; 1 or more nests have been found. Tyson and Bond (1941): Nests in close proximity to houses. Sullivan (1937): Common summer resident from May to September (Pellew) Farley (1935) reported 2 pairs on MDI, observed between 12 June and 22 June 1934. Eliot (1931): Uncommon in the Northeast Harbor area during June 1931; 2 pairs one west of Northeast Harbor, the other near the golf-links. Also observed near houses at Seal Harbor and Southwest Harbor. Also observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R. Robbins on 1 & 6 June 1916. Allen (1899): uncommon on MDI between 1880 and 1899; heard by R.B.
