Notes
Park Species Detail: Wiegand, 2001b: An uncommon plant species occur in slightly more elevated areas of overwash savanna and woodland habitat, where flooding is less frequent and less intense. False sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides) was seen as scattered individuals and small groups of plants along the edge of floodplain forest habitat where it transitions into a more open savanna habitat. This species too is more common immediately upriver than it appears to be at Chain Bridge Flats. Found at 1 site. A watch list (and otherwise uncommon) plant species known to occur within the District of Columbia portion of LOCO (along the C&O Canal NHP and Potomac River from the Maryland line to Key Bridge, Washington, D.C.), Park Species Data Source: Maxon, 1935;Wiegand, 2001b
